Sister Sue

Susan is my companion,
We travel the world together,
Each safe in the other’s care,
I lived with her eleven years,
And we spent the next sixty almost out of touch,
Now we smile when we see each other,
like a well-drilled team,
We share,
As a surrogate couple,
we are seamless.
And soon we move on each at our own pace to new adventures that,
Though unshared,
Will reflect how we have shaped each other.
