Cold

She rests beside me
Radiating heat,
Our breathing slow,
We are exhausted and
Drifting off to sleep.
She likes the thermostat
Set at 68F and the
Cool air moves over us
As we lay beneath a sheet.
I hear the moan of the
Icy wind outside the
Window lamenting
Winter regrets,
And I am cold.
I consider waking her
In order to get a blanket,
Strewn somewhere
In the dark room,
But she sleeps so peacefully
I hesitate to wake her.
I hold her close,
My arm over hers,
My leg next to hers
On her comfort pillow,
And fall asleep.
