Fool’s Paradise

I was smitten with
Her beauty,
She was amused
At my affections,
And we became
Friends with privileges
Who would hang
From time to time.
It could not last,
One-sided forever.
Now I am smitten
With a new friend
Who is smitten
With me.
We are quite
Hopelessly
In love with
Each other.
I am so lucky
To have someone
Who cares for me
As I care for them.
When one is smitten
And the other amused,
The one who cares,
Lives in a fool’s
Paradise.
When two people
Are in love,
Both care,
Both can hope
Their love will
Bloom and they
Can learn and
Grow and
Share together.
And, life begins
Anew.
