Naive?

My sister Sarah,
The psychologist,
Told me I was naive.
I replied it was one
Of my few virtues
And I needed it to
Enhance the illusion
Of boyish charm.
I am 72 and amusing,
Pretty sad accomplishment
If that were all.
I am the sum of my
Accomplishments,
Taught to be self-
Deprecating and
Humble before
The Universe.
I spoke the truth
To my sister Sarah,
Charm is essential
When you are in the
Business of being
Amusing,
On stage,
And off.
But I just can’t
Do this act
Alone.
And now I
Have a partner
Whom I find
Charming and
Accomplished,
And a chance,
For a new life
With her.
I am Dan’s
Smiling
Heart.
