Nap Time

She rests napping
This afternoon
Having begun to
Read a book on
Her cellphone,
She likes to open
Curtains to let
Light pour into
Each room but
Even the bright
Light cannot
Keep her awake.
She misses her
Dog and thrills
To video clips
Of her dog’s
Adventures sent
By her friend
And neighbor.
Her sleeping form
Seems to dream
Of running on the
Beach with her dog
Who has been her
Closest companion
For her last two
Years alone.
I trust a person
Who loves a dog
As one of the
Family.
