Please God
I hear her as the
Sun begins to set,
The cry of a woman,
“Please God, won’t
Someone help me?”
It is a refined voice of
A woman in her 70s or
Early 80s polished by
A college education and
Expecting help as a privilege.
She is lost and wandering in her
Own mind unaware of where she
Is or that she has a lifetime of
No response to her call for help,
She will wander in her dream each
Night calling but no one will
Answer until her insurance
Runs out or she is sent to
A less expensive place
Where she will be
Drugged to silky
Silence in the
Dark of night.
She calls
Until the
Dawn,
Each
Day.
