Elephant Foot

Hannibal’s elephants
Crossed the Alps by
Climbing up then down,
All due to their feet
Which change shape
To fit their environment.
Does the human heart
Change due to its’
Environment?
Does our heart change
From age or love,
Allowing us to love,
Find affection,
Experience passion,
Even finding that
Attachment we once
Thought happened
Only once in a lifetime.
Is our heart so flexible
We can lose the one
Most precious to us,
And still find love again.
Yes we can if we are
Lucky enough to see
Each such miracle is
Unique to itself and
Not a copy of another,
If we have the courage
To accept love,
Trust another,
Share our life,
Grow together,
Forgive mistakes,
Embrace our second
Chance for happiness.
If at ebb tide we have faith
Love will flow back allowing
Us a lifetime to experience
This high tide of love,
And courage to be
Happy for as long
As we both shall last.

Our love and
Each other.
