Doctor

I am 65 and sitting
In the doctor’s exam
Room a few weeks after
The transverse amputation
Of my left foot as my old
Doctor and friend asks
Me how things are
Gingerly testing
Me for signs
Of some
Depression,
I reply I do have
One concern being
Will I be six inches shorter?
He says I will be the same
Height as before and
Stares at me with a
Quizzical look,
I tell him he
Told me
I had
Lost
Half a
Foot and
He stops and
Laughs telling me
My emotional
Condition
Seems
Fine.
