Impeach

What has the word
Peach to do with
Impeachment,
Or such a delicious
Fruit and mouth
Watering pie got
To do with eviscerating
A cancer in the body politic?
Or perhaps extirpate might
Be a better word to use
Though neither seems
To apply to a peach.
Peachy keen is so
Far from cutting
Out a canker
From public
Office
We impeach what cannot
Be indicted for trial
By a jury sworn
And true to
Gauge if
Guilty
As
Hell.
An impeachment is passed
By the House and tried
By the Senate who
Though perhaps
Sworn may be
Neither true,
Steady or
Able to
Gauge.
A bad apple will rot the barrel,
Will a peach gone bad rot
The government or is
Russian to justice
A bigger threat
To our own
Selves?
