We are just four days
From our meeting in
Baggage at the San
Diego airport to live together.
We are both getting
Antsy with impatience.
Fearful of losing each
Other at the last moment,
We sublimate, I by packing
And writing poems
She by cleaning house.
We file our papers
Sleep to pass time
And try not to
Want too much
What we want most of all,
To be together for as
Long as possible.
We are in love
Holding our
Breath
Until

Embrace,
Exhale our cares
And commence
As a couple
