Knowledge is not wisdom
As Pythagoras pointed out,
Knowledge is only a known
Set of data at any one point
In time whereas wisdom is
The perception that knowledge
Changes almost continuously.
Does an awareness of the
Limitations of knowledge
Invalidate its value or do
We seek to continuously
Update our knowledge?
So many folks cannot
Relearn what they
Once learned.
Interesting
How hard
It is to
Teach
As an
Old
Dog new
Tricks, one
Would think
An academic
Would grasp the
Concept that all he
Has learned is only one
Perspective on the truth and
Will eventually be revised in light
Of the future perspectives
From which it will be seen.
Not even Einstein is safe
From this phenomenon.
Then, why are some
Driven to study
How we see
Things
Now?
Because
Knowledge
For the sake
Of knowledge
Is a useful life goal
If only of short duration,
Wisdom is to see this.
Cleverness is to put
Knowledge to work,
Guile is to do so
Without being
Seen to do
So, so as
To be
The
One who
Seems wise.
For those who
Wish to believe without
Reference to wisdom,
Knowledge, cleverness, or guile,
Their only recourse is the wishdom
Of theology rather than philosophy.
Or, is that just another
Perspective of the
Universe we
Call God.
