Coast Highway
The road is only
One or two lanes
Each way but
Crowded at each
Beach town,
Beautiful views
Of the surf sand
Hills under a
Bright yellow sun.
Holiday is in the air
People relaxing from
Stressful jobs in
And out of the home.
Children keyed up
To be at the beach,
Teens keyed up
To be teens.
We drive slowly
Observing folks and
Trying new places
To eat a late lunch
Or early supper,
We call it lupper.
Each day we learn
More about each other
And ourselves as we
Wake up from our
Search for that special
Someone with whom
To share our lives
And our fries,
Our love
And our new
Memories
Of happiness.
We both know how
Lucky we are,
We know the
Feel of sand
On our bare
Feet and
Surf up
To our
Knees,
We smile
Hold hands
Enjoy the air
Conditioning
And dessert,
Students again
On Highway 101.
