Illusions

During the dictatorship
Of Mussolini an Italian
Journalist named
Rossi wrote,
“Fascism is like a
Completely successful
Operation, the patient
Dies and all of his illusions
Are removed.”

Wake up to an
Intolerable situation
Only after your enemy
Occupies your country,
And even then there
Are still some proto-
Fascists who defend
Fascism as the best
Way to run a government
Like a business based
On profit not loss.
A mercy hospital,
Health care, public schools
Social security and so on
Are all loss items that do
Not turn a profit for the
Owner of the government
Run as a business,
That would be the very
Rich in America who
See the country as
Their private property
And most Americans
As temp workers who
Need to be controlled
By debt in order to
Maintain the moral
Authority of the rich.
Too many Americans live
From paycheck to paycheck
Only an illness, injury or
Loss of job away from
Financial disaster.
Lincoln would see this
As a wrong needing
To be corrected by
The citizens of
Our country,
Without
Asking
Putin
Or
Wall Street
First for permission.
Vote for women this November
To right these wrongs and
Bring balance back
To American
Politics
Before
We
Lose all of our illusions
About who runs this
Country for whose
Benefit, once
Trust is lost
It takes
A long
Time
To
Fix.
