Garden Party

We are having a
Garden party to
Celebrate numerous
Folks’ birthdays and
Begin our social
Reawakening as
A couple together.
She has had alternate
Spasms of cold feet
And manic preparations,
I am bewildered by how
Much she has taken on
In terms of cleaning,
Planning, prepping,
Picking a caterer,
Massive changes
To the garden,
And I made Texas Chilli
That should horrify
California vegetarians
And put even
The omnivorous
Right off their
Feed bag.
The party is tomorrow
At 2 pm and Carol is
Answering one phone
Call after another from
Friends and kids
All checking to
See if the party is
Really going to happen,
Carol has awakened
These last nine months
And is in high form
Once again
Directing
Events
And
Being
Charming.
She grows more
Beautiful each day
As we share joys and
Compromise on how
To get along
Together
Holding
Hands
And
Hopes.
