Bed Companions

Carol is visiting a
Girlfriend upstate
For a week or so
And I find myself
With three bed
Companions,
Rosie our red dog,
And two black and
White cats Ellie and
A persnickety Siamese
All of whom hover about
After a heat source which
Seems to be me or else
Pets have emotions
And are fond of
Who feeds
Them or
Else
Pets actually
Love to be near
People they
Like which
Seems a
Bit too
Much
Like
Human vanity.
Though,
I do feel an
Emotional attachment
To these three pets which
Perhaps is reciprocated.
Strange to be aware
Of a new paradigm
On pets after all
These years
Though I
Did feel
Real
Affection
For our two
Dogs Sasha
And Pita
When
I lived in Austin
Which is a pretty
Weird place anyway.
So, onward through the fog
With Rosie the dog and
Two cats who are
Even now eyeing
Me circling to
Herd me up
The stairs
To bed.
