Abraham
He sits watching
As his political party
Does nothing to disavow
Their President’s lapses
Of judgement and the
Incitements to hateful violence,
Is that a tear on his cheek
Or only condensation?
His grand old party condescends
To the ignorant,
Why shouldn’t he shed a tear.
Or, does Abraham judge
And will his wrath
Rain down in ballets
As votes cast like stones
Against those who
Foment fear
And anger
When
They
Should
Speak out
The Declaration’s truth
That all men are
Equal before
The laws
Of the
United Stars of America.
