We have driven into
The San Diego airport
To retrieve Carol’s wallet
From the baggage office
Where she forgot it yesterday
Then stop for nice lunch in
Old Town after which
She wants to take a look
Around the shops while
I wait in the car,
I did ask for it
Didn’t I?
This
Delay will
Put us in the
Late afternoon peak
Traffic but she loves to
Wander through the shops
So it is worth the delay or
Am I her enabler who
Should argue for a
Quicker return
Home to skip
The long
Delay.
I
Think
It is more
Important she
Enjoy an hour of
Shopping than to
Worry about slow
Traffic for the 20
Miles back to
Encinitas
When
We
Can listen
To NPR together.
After lunch she said
The days are too short,
After an hour in slow traffic
She has hit the wall head back
I mention to her that the
Days are too short,
She smiles gives
Me a quick
Glance
And
We strengthen
Our pair bonding
Though I can
Think of a
Few
Better ways.
