Holly and the Ivy

Dark green and
Blood red berries
Symbols of more than
Christmas cheer shared,
I am filled with joy at a season
To be jolly when we most fondly
Celebrate love and forgiveness for
All mankind but also for the mute
Animals we hold stewardship
Over as we ourselves are
Under the stewardship
Of what we choose
To recognize as
Our concept
Of God.
Pray
We
Have
Better
Stewards
Than ourselves
Though at the season
Of the holly and the ivy we
Have a new chance each
Year to be a better sort
Of steward simply
Loving others as
We do ourselves
Forgiving as we
Seek our own
Forgiveness
Sharing
With
Those
Less lucky
Than ourselves,
Though we are only
The humble holly and
Ivy we are still the
Dark green and
Blood red of
Christmas
When a
New
Birth of
Sharing can
Give us all hope,
Rejoice with me at
This Christmas season.
