Pizza
I am 29 in my last
Spring in Graduate
School teaching days
As a History Teaching Assistant
And nights as an Extension Division
History teacher but most of all I am
Showing my sons how to make a
Pizza for supper surprising Mom,
The pizza pans are ancient left
Over from my childhood when
My elder sisters made Chef
Boyardee pizza mix just
What I am directing my
Sons to open one can
Of tomato sauce get
Some extra cheese
Fry hamburger get
Down every Italian
Sounding spice
Then grease
Pizza pans
Spread
Dough
Add
Spiced
Meat on
Tomato sauce
Sliced garlic cloves
Then bake and watch
Until done and Mom comes
Home delighted at dinner
Prepared by someone
Else and edible too
So we are happy
With hot pizza
And iced tea
As evening
Darkens
Out
The window
Warm inside as
We take our second
Slice to watch TV and
Kibitz as we can enjoying
Our conversation more
Than sit-coms, play
Games, read, putter,
Mend, draw, order
Our universe as
We spend an
Evening all
Together
Before
They
Grow up
And are gone
Leaving us alone
With our memories
As long as they last
We are happy and
Pizza pans clean
Easy and we
Are eager
For the
Boys
To go to
Bed so we
Can have our
Private time to
Talk, flirt & off
To bed to
Embrace,
Pizza night
Forever.
