Sergeants

I raised my three sons
To speak the truth and
Draw the bow in service
To our Republic and they
All became sergeants in the
Army a choice they each made,
My eldest died on active duty in the
Pacific while the other two became
Combat veterans in the Iraqi wars
Both disabled, both next working
For the Federal government in
Time living near Washington
City happily married still
Serving the Republic
While the children
Of the rich were
Pampered and
Protected by
Those they
Deemed
Not fit
For
Their
Company.
The President
Is an NCO, a non
Commissioned officer
As commander in chief,
Where is the support
Our veterans earned
On duty against any
Enemy of our
Republic
Waiting
Still
For a
President
Who delivers
The support owed
To our veterans who
Speak the truth
And draw the
Bow in loyal
Service to
Our
Republic.
