Jim
Big and tall
An only child
He studied hard
About science and
Learned most about
The human heart when
He found his mate for life
My sister Penny who has
Loved him for all her life
And loves his memory.
I saw as a child in a
Bush a cocoon, a
Caterpillar’s soft
Silken bed from
Which it would
Emerge into a
Butterfly and
Fly away so
I thought
We must
Be like
That
Butterfly
On a journey
Across the universe
And time metamorphosing
Into something we cannot imagine
With our limited senses locked
Into our few dimensions blind
To what is actually about us.
Jim knows now like all the
Ones we have seen pass
Over more than we can
Imagine, he is busy on
His next existence so
Perhaps he has new
Wings for his next
Set of tasks while
We plod a long
Way from our
Beginning as
A one felled
Entity on a
An asteroid
Hitching a ride
From star to star
Then to what we are.
Jim has gone ahead
A bit but we will one
Day catch up with
Him and some
Memory of us
Will bring a
Smile of
Fond
Recognition.
