Sense
I always looked for
A hard-headed woman,
One who had common sense.
To my surprise more women than
Men had this quality since women
More than men must learn early
To play for keeps and not for
Glory which is illusive even
Ephemeral turning to
Ashes when bright
With promise but
Good common
Sense does
Not fade
But is
Lasting
Through life,
A light in darkness
A guiding beacon in
The storm time,
A knowledge
Innate that
Whispers
To us:
No way in hell.
Don’t buy it
Lease it
Rent it
Don’t
Even take
It for a test drive
Just smile and
Walk away.
