He is about sixty
Years of lemon- sucking
Sarcasm a cotton German
Raised to deflate the pompous
With objective facts so when
A young man rushes into
Huber’s highway office
Blurting our some bit
Of paper is a really
Big emergency he
Sees Hubert at
His desk head
Down looking
At a memo
But not
Responding
Just reading not
Looking up while he
Slowly raises one hand
At the end of a slow-moving
Arm touching a plaque on
The wall behind him that
Says thirty years then
Continues reading
Making a point
That he has
The ballast
Not to be
Rushed
As he has
Been to the rodeo.
