TV

It is the start
Of the weekend
Each window in the
Married student housing
Apartments glows blue light
As each family gathers to
Watch their favorite TV
Programs some are
Well done sit-coms
Destined to be on
As re-runs for a
Century the
American
Classics
We all know
One show leading
To another extolling the
Virtues of most Americans.
I remember my father who had
Pioneered radio transmissions and
The promise that first went with
Early radio programs but now
Scorned TV as the idiot box
Of which he always had
Half a dozen in stages
Of repair as he fixed
TV sets but balked
While we eagerly
Watched our
Childhood
Programs
He would stand
In the doorway arms
Crossed disapproving of
Our waste of time on programs
He felt like radio earlier had
Failed to educate the
Public preferring
To entertain
Audiences.
Just as I
React
To gizmos
My grandkids
Have taught me
To use and
To value.
What I
Wonder
Will my great
Grandkids kids
Huddle about to
Watch at night
I hope not a
Campfire
In an
Old screen less TV.
Though listening
To the radio at
Night might
Be better
If one
Had no
Book.
