Strive

I have been
Teaching night
Classes for longer
Than Moses wandered
In the wilderness well over
Forty years comfortable now
In my class routine sadly weeding
Out non performers as dead wood
When one of my students keeps
Coming to my class after failing
To pass the first two exams not
Even making a D grade but he
Never misses a class though
He asks no questions as his
Main language is Spanish
But he follows the class
Discussions and his
Grades are high F
So at the semester
End I think he has earned
A D grade which is
Passing but not
Easily
Transferred
To a four year college
But I have no choice as he
Has strived to do his best and
I am unable to resist his bravery
And I urge him to try taking other
Courses which may be more
Along his interests and
Praise his hard work
And gumption
Striving to
Succeed
Hoping
He will tell
His friends
Compañeros
Adelante!
