March
We march
At dawn John
Wayne used to
Declare in movies
But nowadays I hear
A similar declaration at
4:20 am from my friend in
The next room as her meds
Have worn off and I need to get
Her to take her morning pills
For anxiety too early which
Have dietary stipulations
So I will need to get up
Dress go downstairs
To make sure all is
OK TV is turned
Down some
Food is
Taken
To balance
The anxiety pills
Then feed the pets
After putting on Frasier
Which has a calming effect
Then urging her to go upstairs
Back to bed while I examine the
Mail searching for return envelopes
Lost in the clutter piled high of all
The correspondence she cannot
Bear to throw away file or send
So after a fruitless search I
Drive six minutes to the
Cafe to sip hot tea
Read and then
Write this
Poem
Before we
March again
Glad she did not
March into the cold
Morning dark before
I got downstairs
Wondering at
Wandering
Before the
Sun takes
A peek
As I
Regret
Asking her
If she were crazy
Not a smart
Move of
Mine.
