I find myself
Seated for lunch
In the train dining car
With a charming couple
He is Californian she is English plus a lady of
Greek descent or at
Least sounds a bit
Greek but who
Takes one
Look at
The
Menu
And departs
Sans Greek salad
While the meal goes
On as we all three peruse
The choices and order Angus
Beef burgers chips and a
Beverage which a wink
From the waiter tells
Us is the best deal
Though all meals
Are free if you
Have a room
Onboard
But we
Do
Ogle the
Other guests
Who have bravely
Ordered strange items
Vaguely sticky reminiscent
Of a freshly procured
Secondhand damp
Octopus tentacle
With a Hispanic
Name which
The diner
Pins in
Place
With
Their
Trident
And knife
So we all give
A thumbs down
Munching our burgers
Gazing at the blue Pacific
Sandy beach and beige
Smooth hills along the
California coast all of
Us wondering if the
Train will cross a
Blackened fire
Area or a red
One as we
Guess at
Dessert
Sweets
Not served
