I see them
Walking hand
In hand across
The college campus
Lanes under trees even
Older than these two friends
Both trees and the couple are
Paired for life branches meet
In a leafy arc across the clay
Pathway holding hands as
Trees do as the couples
Pass beneath but the
Couple I watch seem
Aware of only each
Another as their
Eyes meet from
Time to time in
Love over time
Relaxed they
Have an air
Of being a
Couple.
I think
If one
Can,
Better
To be two
As one than
Alone though
I realize friends
And pets count as
Our other but for those
Who have not yet tried for
Life as a couple do not be
Put off by so many who
Have chosen another
Path to happiness be
What you can while
You can to share
Your life with
Another
Person
Pet
Or art
Creation
Of your own
And be fulfilled
Like the old couple
Walking together
Under the trees
Hand in hand
Happy for a
Lifetime not
A few hours
Growing
Old as
One.
