Sic Train Set Gloria
My last day on the train
I must remember all glory
Is fleeting and soon I will be
Back in Encinitas with my friend
And her snippy grown kids whose
Adolescent behavior makes me
Even prouder of my family all
Of whom are gracious sweet
Thoughtful and kind to each
Other and me though of
Course we gossip on
The others but more
In good fun picking
Holes in perfection
But solid with the
Others in need.
Folks I’ve met
On the train
Are all a bit
Dreamers
Or why
Ride
The
Train.
They look
On the present
But I think they see
The past where memory
Is kinder hope still exists and
They can again hear the train’s
Whistle and know where they
Are if not for today then
At least long ago in an
America where the
Future’s so bright
They need sun
Glasses but
Some need
Littler asses
As all glory is
At bottom fleeting.
