Change

I feel a change
In the air as rain
Is on the way blue
Skies will turn dark
Gray raindrops hurl
Down to splatter next
To my cafe window seat
Trees bend in the wind and
Leaves flutter wildly in a change
Of weather like the storm that
Is moving across America
As opinion shifts on who
And what we feel most
Relevant to us mostly
Attitudes on helping
Versus individual
Self-reliance so
I look to Abe
Lincoln who
Said govt
Should do
Only the
Things
Folks
Cannot
Do as well
Themselves,
Common sense.
I am surprised at
So many piggies for
So few nursing teats,
Give me this or that now
Is utter nonsense since we
Little value what is free where
As a helping hand to neighbors
Is an American frontier virtue
In moderation which is the
Key to prosperity and to
Peace both of which
Allow me to take
Another sip of
Hot tea safe
In the cafe
Far from
Places
Better
To send
Aid than
Boots on
The ground.
I feel a change
Coming sweeping
Out false idols fools
And false pretenders
Who hold to office not
To serve but to be served.
