Children
As I sit an old man
Watching children with
Their families I hope their
Lives will be good sparing
Them the pain of loss or the
Disappointment with adults
Who should protect them
But did not or worse and
So I smile and wave at
Children I hope will be
Safe to grow up with
The innocence kids
Deserve unaware
Till later of loss
That will come
In time as we
Are made to
Persevere
Despite
All we
Must
Endure.
It would
Be kinder
To not use
TV to babysit
But material lures
Outweigh our kids’
Best interests in too
Many families yet kids
Are tougher than we know
Even gizmos cannot ruin
But a few as most kids
Survive and even
Thrive on scant
Attention little
Admiration a
Bit only of
Affection
So smile
At them
Wave.
