Swagger

I am four in
Louisiana south
Of Shreveport and
I observe the way some
White men walk along with
A swagger a sort of exaggerated
Stride as though they were extras in
A John Wayne western which even
At four I suspect is fear they will
Be seen as inferior ignorant or
Just lack confidence as their
Poor character exposes a
Vulnerability based on a
Lack of education plus
A prejudiced view of
Anyone who is not
One of their type
Which I saw on
TV when the
Judiciary
Committee
Republicans
Tried to ignore
Trump’s corruption
And poor character
With loud voices and
Pretended flouncing off
Camera but most with that
Swagger of arrogance that
Like pride precedes a fall
Because hubris has a
Southern swagger
No one can miss
And which the
POTUS would
Mimic if he
Did not
Waddle and
Tweet like some
Cartoon character.
Birds of a feather flock
Together like Trump’s ally
The Ex-governor of Kentucky
Who traded pardons for political
Contributions a foul corruption
So much like Trump’s own
Both men guilty of acts
Despicable shoddy
Embarrassing for
Honorable folks
Of either party
Which makes
Our country
The butt of
Jokes by
Our own
Allies.
