Again
Healing again
An old wound over
The Holidays with an
Excuse not to shop drive
In the rain allowed to sit and
Read or watch TV as my friend
Is gone Xmas week to be with her
Daughter and new husband’s family
Conveniently two hours away so
Rosie the red dog is lamenting
Her absence though the two
Cats do not seem to mind
As long as I continue to
Feed them too proud to
Mind when I refuse to
Play let me in let me
Out again while the
Dog drapes herself
On the back of the
Couch raising one
Eyebrow as the
Cat thumps on
The glass at
The back
Door but
I will let
Them
Inside if
The rain
Pours or if it
Seems too cold
While I follow up my
Doctor’s orders to keep
My socked foot elevated on
A pillow sitting in my comfy chair
Watching news or movies and
Sipping hot tea with lemon
Which my mother told me
Was the Russian fashion
Alone for a week in a
Solitude not at all
Unpleasant
If properly
Enjoyed
Sitting
Xmas
Out.
