Sunflowers

I am a teen
Driving south
To the Gulf waters
Pounding wave lines
Warm on a white beach
Breeze blowing the sea scent
Only an hour further when I
Behold a field of yellow
Sunflowers nodding in
The breeze a friendly
Affirmative so many
Flowers I am struck
By their composite
Beauty symmetry
In motion their
Seeds soon
To be a
Salted
Snack
But
As I drive
By their faces
Turn toward me
Happy to be a field
Of sunflower friends
Much like us teenagers
So I wonder why we
Have awareness
And if there is
Awareness in
Sunflowers
Or are we
Both part
Of a self
Aware
Earth ...
Yummy
Crunch!
