Cold
The cold
Creeps into
Our joints over
Time unnoticed
But as we crunch
Homeward through
The frost our pace slows
Until when reaching the car
In the dark just turning the key
Now seems too difficult but using
Both hands the key turns engine
Coughs into life and we avoid a
Long walk home across fields
And frozen streams but wise
To remember we are only a
Human against the deep
Cold and as hubris has
A habit of preceding a
Fall it may be a good
Idea not to tempt
The deep cold
Of winter we
Once felt a
Pride in a
Walk in
But
Now
Should
Have more
Respect for as
The warmth we feel
For winter walks may fade
As we watch the ice crystals
Grow before our eyes beautiful
Delicate each unique but too cold.
Better cookies and a cup of hot
Tea a warm fire a good read
As the wind moves the
Curtains whispers
To us out here
Is the cold
Come out
To walk
If you
Dare.
