I am with
My three sons
Ages 13, 10 and 7
At the University of
Texas campus cinema
Known as the SMFC the
Saturday morning fun club
Where hundreds of children
And their student parents gather
To misbehave throwing paper
Airplanes shouting during
The films “Don’t open
That door!” and any
Witticism handy to
Thristle laughter
Out of our inner
Most place
Together
Forever
As the
SMFC
Even
Now
I miss
Them all
But know they
Will carry on our
Old SMFC brotherhood
Of laughter and irreverence
Like when we watched Flash
Gordon and Ming the merciless
Was introduced my eldest son
Spoke loudly “Why did he
Have to be called that?”
To which his two
Brothers burst
Into laughter
The whole
Reason
For the
SMFC.
