Sister

My elder sister
Is 16 struggling for
Control with my mother
As all my sisters had to learn
To do to survive as women ready
To go into the world playing for
Keeps unlike most men who go
Forth to play at gathering toys
In life to see who wins until at
Last some do learn to be an
Adult whereas all of my six
Sisters or step-sisters hit
The ground running after
Leaving home but my 16
Year old sister is trying
A practice run out the
Door to live awhile
With a girlfriend’s
Family which I
Never get to
Hear about
Just aware
My sister
Is back
In her
Room as
She waits to
Escape to college
And eventually her own
Family where fate smiles on
Her giving her three fine sons
None of whom wants control
Of her house only to be fed
Entertained laundry done
And secret mags left not
To be found by parents
Along with all the old
Secrets of being a
Boy we all know
By our teens so
I am glad my
Sister is OK
And home
Again as
I love
Her,
Miss her
Look of horror
At my messiness
Rely on her to set a
Standard I can never
Hope to meet but
Her presence is
Reassuring to
Me until she
Jumps ship
For good
And I
Say
Goodbye
Until we are
Both old,
Able to
Talk.
Old friends
Once more again.
