Asbestos

I am thirtyish
Working at TXDOT,
When I arrive there are
Guys in hazmat suits walking
About removing asbestos from
The old pipes one plastic shrouded
Area after another and folks want
To go home but are told they will
Have to use vacation or else
Sick leave which some do
Not have or go on some
Suspension of service
So my boss who is
Fondly King of the
Cowboys must be
The clutch pad
Which causes
His nose to
Bleed in
Stress
So I
Stop at
His office
Door to try
And reassure
Him by saying
This is the Highway
Department where we
Do asbestos we can do
Which makes him smile a
Bit as laughter disperses the
Stress as he sits thinking
About why he agreed
To do a job that
Paid more but
Pressured
Him as
Clutch
Pad.
Face
Time ring
Time ain’t
F’er sissies,
Better cowboys.
