Hammock

I am 16
A difficult
Age urging
A young lady
My age to sit in
The hammock on
A second-floor balcony,
The hammock is hung on
A steel frame which as we
Both sit and gently swing I do
Not notice is ever so slowly bending
Until in mid kiss we find ourselves
Sitting on the balcony floor with
The steel frame bent up out of
Shape above us which no
Amount of explanation
Can turn aside the
Amusement of
Sisters or my
Parents or
The sly
Look
Of my
Younger
Brother who
Just nods his head
Bent to one side as he
Examines the twisted metal.
Still, my reply to all jibs is
When you find yourself
In a precarious risky
Position you must
Ride it to the
Ground
Then
Walk away,
Even if the getting
Up is rather undignified.
You can cross that
Hummock when
You come
To it.
