Seen and not

Mantra of my Mom
And Dad who may have
Actually believed this possible
Though I doubt this as they were
Too smart to expect kids not to
Be the star of their own lives
With sibs parents teachers
Friends classmates all bit
Players in their personal
Saga a journey not of
Self-recognition but
Of recognition by
Others of their
Fame fortune
Fabulosity
Fatiguing
Everybody but
Tolerated by all the
Others similarly so focused.
We are such marvelous creatures
There had to be a brave new world
Just to have each of us in it.
And yet perhaps together
We may admire going
From fire to laptops
In just 6,000 years
Of our recorded
Time not seen
But we have
Heard it in
History
