Cookie
I am eight
Watching my
Big sister take
A tray of cookies
From the oven telling
Me they are shortbread
Cookies very thick and flaky
More delicious than chocolate.
Twenty years later I am fixing
Lembas cookies which are
Shortbread with walnut
Bits in them sort of like
A scone but shaped
Like a very thick
Leaf which my
Three sons
Devour
As quick
As I can bake
A batch and I savor
The taste of my sister’s
Cookies way too many times.
Each bite reminds me of kitchen
Smells from my childhood all
The memories of cookies
Pies cakes the siren
Scents of holidays
Birthdays and the
Days my sister
Baked me a
Delicious
Cookie.
Thank
You
Sis.
