Summer in Austin
Hot seems too cool a
Description heat waves
Dance off the pavement
As I decide to stop by my
Wife’s new job at a quaint
UT museum office with a
Box of frozen ice cream
Sandwiches about two
In the afternoon which
Is a welcome treat for
All the staff except
The boss who is
Miffed he didn’t
Think to bring
The treat but
Once he bit
Into the ice
Cold treat
Even he
Smiled.

Unlooked for
Is always sweetest
Like an unexpected friend
A gift we give ourselves
A surprise shared by
Both as over the
Years they can
Grow to know
Each other
Better.
