Empathy

Doesn’t everyone
Feel what others feel?
Or are there some who
Have no idea of the raw
Emotion of someone next
To them who behind what
That person thinks is their
Mask seethes with despair
Desires and thoughts tender
To terrible yet evident to any
Empath who is feeling their
Pain or pleasure unable to
Tune them out or shut off
Their feelings but glad to
Be spared their thoughts
For the most part as this
Requires analytical skill
Not part of empathy
Which only has to
Deal with their
Emotions not
Their inner
Thoughts
Which to
Read is
Rude.
An empath
Cannot shut
Out the emotions
Of others but can try
Not to analyze thoughts
And if unable to resist
May end up reacting
To them which is
Upsetting to the
Person who
Realizes
You see
Them.
Or,
Are you
Unaware you
Are an empath
Whom others turn
To as a stranger to tell
You their secrets plus
Inadvertently their
Emotions and
Even their
Mind.
Just a
Thought,
Never mind.
If you are not
An empath the
Idea is too absurd.
All your secrets are safe,
What you took where
You were and with
Whom even that
Fantasy you
Rest your
Mind on
