Golf

A foursome
At the next table
This morning at the
Clubhouse is engaged
In two conversations one
On he said she said and the
Other on golf the latter a man
Outraged that he saw a golfer on
The course with his shirttail out
Not he says appropriate so I
Stand up walk over saying
Good morning then I ask
If it is OK for my short
Sleeved T-shirt to be
Out and I smile so
They laugh and
I offer up that
Golf is a
Game
For gentlemen
Who are, at least
Southern gentlemen,
Always elegant since they
Know elegance is simplicity
So set style not follow it no
Matter how relaxed an
Attire they may have
On at the moment
Which brings a
Nervous little
Laugh and
I smile
Adding
A southern
Gentleman is
Either raised so
Or is conferred
By Professor
Colonel
Doctor
Then
Limp
Back to
My table
And enjoy
My hot tea.
Arrogance and
Condescension are
The drawbacks conferred
But I am an old man
And allowed a
Senior blip
Now and
Again
Lost
In the fog
Of the past.
