Mah Boy
I am fiftyish
Sitting on my
Desk teaching
My college class
About how precinct
Meetings work when
A young man announces
It does not matter nothing
Changes cuz government is
Corrupt so I slap my knee hard
Laughing point to him and say
That’s mah boy! He blinks an’
Replies he is not my boy but
I tell him yes he is when he
Preaches negativity and
Hopelessness cuz my
Rich friends and I do
Not want the young
To attend precinct
Meetings where
They may put
A plank in the
Platform for
Free day
Care or
Even
Medical
Emergency
Care or less
Sales tax or for
The rich to pay their
Fair share of taxes but
As long as mah boy says
It’s no use to try my rich friends
And I won’t see them at any
Precinct meetings cus all
Those reforms may cost
Us money as the middle
Class is wrung dry of
Cash and poor got
No money and
My rich old
Friends do
Not want
To pay
Tax.
But all
Will be well
As long as mah
Boy keeps telling
Them it’s no use as
Government is corrupt
No change is possible so
Stay home and watch reruns.
Then I lean forward and
Whisper loudly to my
Class that America
Has the best law
Best medicine
And even the
Best education
That money can buy.
But you gotta have money.
And as long as they will
Stay away from local
Precinct meetings
They never will
Have any
Money
All
Thanks
To mah boy.
