I am 13
Reading a
Book on the
Korean War to
See how else the
War might have gone.
That night I dream of
A cavalry charge as
It sweeps over a
Gentle slope to
Take a column
Of infantry in
The flank to
Scatter the
Soldiers.
The next day
I read in my book
Of a South Korean attack
By some unknown cavalry unit
Scattering North Korean troops
In pursuit of retreating US
Troops at the start of
The war and ponder
The coincidence
Of dreaming it
Then reading
About it. Do
We write
History
As it
Happened
Or do we dream
History as a sort of
Lathe of God to make
It happen so if so is it the
Dream of just ourself
Or do we just see
History coloring
In the shadows
On the cave
Wall as it
Suits
Us
To dream.
