Peace

As a child
I was always
At peace with
My siblings one
Away from the sib
Next to me in age
So I wonder if we
Do likewise as a
Country always
Wanting what
Another has
Squabbling
Fighting
Petulant yet
Protective of our
Brothers and sisters.
Are democracies a family?
And domestically, can we
Compromise or are we
Not in the giving vein
Today too eager to
Confront rather
Than find a
Middle
Path.
Shall we
Make a desert
And tacitly
Call it
Peace?
