Ink

As a child
I loved pen
And ink jokes
In newspapers
And magazines
Hand-drawn each
Black and white on
Society and politics.
One book of fifty years
Of drawn jokes showed
A Roaring Twenties small
Child a little girl duplicate
Of her bobbed hair short
Short dress skimpy top
A classic flapper Mom
Across a dinner table
In New York City apt.
With the quip by the
Child to her mother,
“Well, I say it is
Spinach and I
Say to hell
With it.”
Truth
Not
Said can
Be drawn,
Pen and Ink.
