Raised
To believe
We are here to
Benefit society by
Building maintaining
A place where children
Can be safe where the
Family is the center of
Our life not too rich
Nor too poor but
The middling
Sort who do
An honest
Day’s work all
Things in balanced
Moderation spending the
Time to raise children to
Respect their parents
Where government
Does what people
Cannot do as
Well where
History is
Revered
And not
Revised to
Suit some fad
So I do not favor
Changing Fort Sam
To Fort Samantha nor
Fort Hood to Camp
Maya Angelou for
The amusement
Of those who
Never had to
Risk their or
Their kids’
Lives on
Active
Duty.
