I sit at a
Small table
By the window
Of the clubhouse
Cafe sipping hot tea
Most mornings quietly
Reading a book or rules
To some board game on
Military history never a
Biscuit and bacon for
A cowboy breakfast
Just cream in tea
With stevia and
Splenda sweet
A routine of
Solitude a
Habit of
Mine as
I learn
To live alone
A game always
Set up on my dining
Table a radio near
To listen to NPR
Afternoon iced
Tea with lime
Reading my
Way along
But how
Can a
Body
Share a
Thought as
I turn my eyes
To trade glances
And no one is there.
I cherish lunch in
Or out twice a
Week with my
Friend whose
Smile fills
Me with
Joy our
Time a
Page
Turner.
